My Slice of the Ocean

Hey All,

My name is Paul Allen and I've been the President of the Boston Reefers Society since 2019, Board of Directors the year prior but a member of the club since 2004. Currently I have two tanks running but many more behind my shed, lol. The amount of aquarium related goods we accumulate over the years blows my mind every time I go clean things out. Haven't done a water change in close to 2 years as I'm running Reef Moonshiners method and crashed the system with a dumb move on my behalf.
I use GHL Profilux P4 controller, Doser 2.1 and 3 powerbars. Geo 8-18 Calcium Reactor for supplementing the big 3 with Kamoer FX-STP doser and Aquarium Plants Carbon Doser.

Main display is a Cadlights Artisan II that I got for a steal from a close friend of 30+ years and is lit by a 48" ATI Sunpower with 5 blue plus, 2 coral plus and 1 purple plus bulb. 48" Reefbrite XHO for some added pop. I use 4 Tunze 6095 wavemakers/powerheads for flow. A mix of Marco rock and really old Fiji Live rock makes up the aqua scape. 99% SPS in this tank.

The second tank is a Deep Blue Professional 80 gallon and lit by Gen 4 XR30 Pro's. 1 Tunze 6095 for flow and is a mix of SPS, and LPS and a big Fiji rock covered in green star polyps and green striped mushrooms.
I have a rack of SPS frags and tiles with grow out colonies. Handful of torches that consist of Dragon Soul, NY Knicks, Todd's, ASD Holy Grail, Malaysian, Indo golds etc. Various rainbow acans, 3" jelly bean chalice, Momma and baby OG, Frostbite, Beanbag, Sunkist bounce mushrooms and favias.

Both tanks share a common 34 gallon Trigger Systems sump with a Reef octopus Elite 200sss skimmer, refugium with chaeto and red gracilara alge lit by two Tunxe fuge lights.

I have a Pentair Aquatics 40watt UV running low flow for ich management.

I'm headed to my local LFS tomorrow to hand over some hard earned cash to place an order for a larger aquarium and have about 4-6 months to take this system down, move to a 300 gallon stock tank and remodel the room. There is a half wall behind the DT that will be removed, baseboard heat relocated and flooring going in. I'll update as time progresses.

I came home from LIRA's event this past weekend to a nice box of GHL goodies. Four GHL Mitras 7202 and a new Maxi Doser 2.2 for pulling top off from my garage. Sick to my stomach with the money going out, but that's what we do for the love of the hobby I guess.
